A Time Too Short

I wrote the following in 1988 for my cousin Lenny, I repeated it again in 2005 for my wife Chris and sadly I must repeat it once again unexpectedly for my friend Lee Snyder who returned home to the Lord this day March 27, 2008:

A Time Too Short

And with the pass of His hand,
An allotted place and time were given
And his name was written
In the Great Book of Life

Except for the cry of a newborn,
The smile of a Father's pride
And the glow of a Mother's face,
- No great celebration was joined -

But this soul was given a presence,
That we might share a time together
And to each of us who knew his name,
- He was different -

To one a son, to one a kindred brother,
To one a mentor, and to another a spiritual beacon
To one a faithful husband
And to another a trusted friend

But to all who remain, who knew his name,
It was a time too short

                                         THIS

Lee was a Professor of Speech at the University of Nebraska, an educator serving to enhance students communications attributes, an ordained minister who served western Nebraska communities, a faithful and loving husband and friend of all who were privileged to know him and his life’s companion Vicki. We celebrate the years he served the Lord and that we were privileged to know him in this life.
