Chilly in paradise (no, not chili)
Today in paradise? - well, a bit chilly and breezy for a start, but turned out pretty well. The wind has died down and we made it to almost 70, so it was a typical TX day for this time of year, sweats in the morning and shorts in the afternoon. I moved the weather station up on the roof as I didn't think it was reading the full breeze correctly.
Nothing totally new today, just some ongoing things like mailing letters at the LCS, now we'll see how long it takes for them to get NOB. And stopped by my ISP and met a fellow I've known online for a year and had a nice chat. I'm entering the "social" phase where I need to get out and meet some of the folks I've been online with these past months and break out of my hermit mode a bit. But, I do enjoy my little corner of the world, the quiet and solitude are comforting and technology brings me music and TV (such as it is) and communication with the outside world beyond our community and my compound.
One of the fellows, now in NM, after reading my description of Mexican women's physique offered a great adjective for the bare midriff, low rider jeans allowing about 90% to display excess baby fat, he calls them "mushroom tops" - perfect, thank you Britney Spears for creating a style displaying the worlds baby fat.
And, I might at this point offer additional evidence of why women live longer than men; and it seems the same in MX as NOB, women drive us crazy in checkout lines - there and here. I was in line behind a young lady who had stood there for at least 5 minutes as the line was slow. Finally when the checker completed the price she then unzipped her purse and began digging for money, pesos etc. and finally after what seemed an eternity, completed the transaction and then began the tedious process of repacking her purse - THIS DRIVES MEN CRAZY ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, ANY TIME AND TO AN EARLY GRAVE!!!!!!!!!!! As I've said before, drive with conviction even though you don't know where you're going, spend like you've got it and I'll add this: BE PREPARED TO PAY AT THE CHECKOUT LINE - PLEASE! (yes, I feel somewhat better now thank you)
Seems I was a bit incorrect, turns out your can get frosted bulbs in MX, I got two, one is verde and the other is azul? - that's green and blue, but I can't see any difference, oh well, at least they're a bit less harsh. Seems a shame GE has spent years and millions researching and developing bulbs to improve colors etc. and it's totally lost here.
Max has moved up to my office, he has accepted the shelf for naps to be near me and even the hidie hole down at the bottom sort of behind the PC like in TX, so hopefully he's given up the chimney which makes me very happy to know he feels safe.
I explored a community next to me today, upper Chula Vista (Jerry, they have a golf course) and was impressed, it's very nice and NO topes. I don't know that I'll have to move in 6 months, but just in case. The guys at the ISP today were saying the snowbirds aren't coming down in great numbers yet this year, must be global warming.
On a separate note my daughter lives near Thousand Oaks, CA and so I'm concerned about the fires, but they seem out of the danger zone. However, while at the ISP a lady came in and said they'd lost their house and everything in San Diego, all their personal possessions of a lifetime, they were going back to try to see what needs to be done with insurance etc. What a tragedy. I brought many pictures with me with the express intent of scanning them onto disc to preserve them for the future. In some cases we preserve so little of our brief time here and in an instant it can be taken forever.
So, a more of less mundane day in paradise - at least for those of us lucky enough to be here.
