Laredo, lesson #2 in Mexican

Boys and girls, puppies and little gatos, today we got lesson #2 in Mexican, but first the days trip; pretty much a non-event, but then both Max the gato and I were on drugs, so we might have missed something, actually his were to keep him sleepy all day, mine keep me sleepless all night, go figure. We touched down in Laredo and after having to park the Jeep and trailer and repark, then overcoming the wireless glitch came lesson #2:

I asked if there was a currency exchange near and yes there was, a block down behind the Shell station was a small house open 24/7. So, it’s now dark 30 and I hiked down there and it was more a shack than a “house” and it was stand outside where it’s still 90 and 100% humid. The guy ahead of me must have been transacting the national debt of Mexico or some deal I didn’t want to know about because they talked back and forth through the cash drawer and the guy inside kept making calls, doing something on the PC and finally after a good 20 minutes started counting out BIG stacks of money. By this time the guy behind me left and was replaced by a girl. Now, the next glitch and they still yammering back and forth and of course I don’t speak Spanish yet, so? Then the girlfriend gets out of the truck and she starts in and they seemed to be trying to verify something like an address maybe – at about 30 minutes I figured the lesson was over and I headed back here for a shower, I start early in the morning and if that guys still there, I’ll try another. I’ll most likely have to pay some import, but I’ll find Pesos somewhere, we’ll see.

Now it’s paperwork study time.

The road goes on and the party never ends.
